On Thursday 31 October, all the 2nd year students at Lycée Louis Massignon had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the theatrical world of the XVIIᵉ century by attending a performance of Molière's Précieuses ridicules at the Théâtre de l'université de la Sorbonne.
For 1 hour 15 minutes, they discovered a staging faithful to the period, with hand-painted sets and acting inspired by classical declamation. This historically informed approach gave the students a better grasp of the originality of Molière's theatre and its links with commedia dell'arte.
After the performance, an enriching discussion with the director gave them an insight into Molière's theatrical techniques, his collaboration with Italian actors and the reciprocal influence between his work and commedia dell'arte, as well as his own work.

Thank you to the teachers who supervised this outing.
