Commitment, respect and conservation for a sustainable future

The Lycée Louis Massignon, as part of the network of the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (AEFE), the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, and in close partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) - the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates - is fully committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

These objectives, which aim to build a world that is fairer, more united and more respectful of the environment, are at the heart of our educational project. They guide our commitment to citizenship education, the conservation of natural resources, respect for biodiversity, social justice and the preservation of the cultural and environmental heritage of the United Arab Emirates.

As part of this drive, LLM has been awarded the EFE3D label - Etablissement Français de l'Etranger Engagé dans une Démarche de Développement Durable - level 2, awarded by the AEFE in conjunction with the French Ministry of Education. This label attests to the integration of sustainable development into the overall operation of the school - in teaching as well as in school life, partnerships and governance - and recognises the collective commitment of teaching staff, students and families.

The actions of the eco-delegates: voluntary and committed students

At the heart of this mobilisation, the LLM Ecodelegates play a leading role. Supervised by Camilia Hasnaoui, a Life and Earth Sciences teacher and the school's Sustainable Development Education Coordinator, these volunteer students are involved in practical projects to raise awareness in their community:

Their commitment is part of a global vision: to train responsible citizens, respectful of their environment and host culture, and aware of global challenges. They are actively helping to build a greener, more inclusive school, in harmony with the values of the United Arab Emirates, where respect, conservation and the transmission of heritage are central.
