On 29 January 2026, to celebrate the Franco-German friendship and the Élysée Treaty, the Lycée Louis Massignon (LLM) was honoured to welcome H.E. Mr Nicolas Niemtchinow, Ambassador of France, and H.E. Mr Alexander Schönfelder, Ambassador of Germany to the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting was part of an exchange between classes at the Lycée Louis Massignon and the German International School Abu Dhabi (GISAD).
The ambassadors were welcomed by Mme Gouix, headmistress of the LLM, who, in her opening speech, underlined the richness of this unique link. The students then performed Barbara's emblematic song «Göttingen», a symbol of Franco-German reconciliation, creating a powerful moment for all present.
The exchanges between the ambassadors and the students were particularly rich. Through their personal and professional experiences, they showed how the Franco-German friendship has been built up and nurtured over time, and continues to create solid links between peoples. Above all, they emphasised a strong message: it is now up to the younger generations to make this relationship a reality in the future.
Thank you to Ms Mistrot and Mr Combreas from LLM, Ms Müller from GISAD, the teams involved and the French and German embassies for making this exceptional morning possible.
