Discovering Qasr Al Watan, between cultures and identities

During the week of 10 March, Grande Section pupils had the chance to visit Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi, a true architectural masterpiece and symbol of the Emirates' cultural heritage. Today, the palace hosts numerous official visits and state events, and embodies the richness and preservation of the nation's culture.

Having studied the gardens of châteaux in class, in particular those of Versailles, the children were able to compare the majesty of the gardens of the presidential palace with the splendid French layout. The children marvelled at the beauty of the place, both outside, with its carefully landscaped gardens, and inside, where they discovered a majestic setting. The visit was an opportunity for them to use the vocabulary they had learnt in class, in both Arabic and French.

This experience gave our students a better understanding of the importance of heritage and the preservation of Emirati traditions, while connecting them to France's cultural heritage. It was a great opportunity to strengthen their sense of pride and belonging to our host country, while enriching their open-mindedness and understanding of different cultures.
