Earth Day: raising awareness of the natural wonders of the Emirates

The Earth Wish Board with the 6th and 5th graders

On 24 April, as part of the Earth Day celebrations, pupils from 6eA and CM2D took part in a creative activity in the CDI. They wrote caring messages for the "Earth Wish Board", a symbolic space where they shared their hopes, promises and commitments to our planet.

This activity enabled the pupils to learn more about the natural wonders of the Emirates: the desert fauna, the Abu Dhabi mangroves, the pearls, the sea, the exceptional landscapes... all treasures that deserve admiration and protection.

The messages were written in French, English, Arabic and other languages of their choice, to celebrate Language May and highlight the linguistic richness of our school.

This project is an initiative of the CDI team, in cooperation with Mrs Lahiani, SVT teacher, and Mrs Doris Bonneveau, CM2D teacher.

A big thank you to all the organisers for giving the students this creative and engaging experience!

Kindergarten: environmental awareness in English

To mark Earth Day, the 6th form students in the international section organised awareness-raising events for several nursery classes.

All the activities were conducted in English!

Younger children took part in fun and educational workshops, led by our schoolchildren, to learn how to respect the planet and recycle.

On the programme:

  •  Locating games Matching animals to their habitats and sorting rubbish into the right bins.
  •  Art workshops with GSB, GSF and GSD classes.
  • Building bird houses from milk or juice cartons, in collaboration with the CPCs.
  •  Creation of dromedaries with rolls of paper and egg cartons!

Multilingualism is encouraged at the Lycée Louis Massignon from an early age, offering our pupils a rich language programme while involving them in educational and ecological projects.

A big well done to our pupils for their energy and creativity, and a big thank you to the kindergarten and international section teachers for their support in this wonderful initiative.
